How to become a clipper
Updated 9 October 2026 · Written by the SOVE7GN founders
Clippers take long videos like podcasts, streams and music, cut the best parts into short clips, post them on their own accounts, and get paid on the views. Here's how it works, without the hype.
Short version: build real accounts in a niche, learn to cut a clip that opens strong, then join a clipping network that pays per 1,000 views on approved clips. Your income is roughly approved views × the rate. It's a skill you get better at, not a quick win.
What a clipper does
- Pick a campaign. Each one comes with source videos and rules.
- Cut the best moments into short vertical clips.
- Post them on your own accounts: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, X and others.
- Submit the links. The network checks the clips and pays on approved views.
How the pay works
Clippers are usually paid per 1,000 views on clips that pass review. OpenClip's rate survey (figures checked August 2026) found most public campaigns pay between $0.20 and $6 per 1,000 verified views, with most near $1.
Two things people don't mention:
- Not every view counts. Views that look bought get thrown out, so a steady clip beats one fake-looking viral hit.
- Networks vary a lot. Rates, review speed and how reliably they pay are all different. Check before you put in a weekend.
What you need to start
- Real accounts with real followers on at least one platform. Most networks will want to see your past views.
- Basic editing. CapCut or DaVinci Resolve is plenty. Vertical crop, captions, clean cuts.
- A niche. Accounts that post one kind of content build an audience that expects it.
- Patience. It won't replace a job in month one.
How to make clips that get views
- The first two seconds decide everything. Open on the payoff, not the setup.
- Captions on, framed so the app's buttons don't cover them.
- One idea per clip. If it needs the five minutes before it, it isn't a clip.
We go deeper in how to turn a podcast into short-form clips.
Why clips get rejected
From reviewing clips every day, the same three reasons come up on almost every network:
- Views that jump overnight instead of building up.
- Likes and comments that don't match the view count.
- Wrong length, wrong tags, or the wrong source video. The most common, and the easiest to avoid. Read the rules.
In our network, about 1 in 6 clips gets rejected, and rejected clips aren't paid.
How to pick a clipping network
- Is the budget funded before the campaign opens? If not, you might clip for money that doesn't exist.
- Does a person review clips, and how fast?
- If they reject a clip, do they tell you why?
- How and when do they pay?
- Are the rules clear before you start?
Clipping with SOVE7GN
We run our network from Discord, and it's application-only so the group stays small. Every campaign is fully funded before it opens. Each one comes with the videos, 2 example clips and clear rules. We review every clip within 24 hours and tell you why if we reject one. You're paid per 1,000 views through Whop once a clip is approved, and the rate is listed on each campaign.
Right now most of our campaigns are music and gaming. If you clip in those niches, you'll have more to work with.
How to join
- Join the Discord and open an apply ticket.
- We check your accounts and past clips.
- Once you're in, you get access to every campaign we run.
We're looking for people who already post clips and can show their views, with real followers on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, Snapchat, Facebook or LinkedIn. Buying views or copying other clippers gets you removed.
Questions people ask
How much do clippers earn?
It depends on the rate and how many of your views pass review. Roughly: approved views divided by 1,000, times the rate. Treat any '$10,000 a month' promise with suspicion.
Do I need a lot of followers to start?
You need real followers on at least one platform and some proof of views. A smaller account with steady views can be worth more than a big account with weak ones.
