How to measure a clipping campaign
Updated 23 October 2026 · Written by Reyansh Juneja and Naman Dhiman, the co-founders of SOVE7GN, who run the campaigns and review the clips
A clipping campaign throws off a lot of numbers. Most of them don't matter. Here are the ones that tell you whether the money was well spent and what to change next.
Short answer: judge a clipping campaign on approved views (not raw views), cost per 1,000 approved views including fees, engagement rate on approved clips, rejection rate, which moments and hooks performed best, and follow-on signals you can track: profile visits, follows, searches, streams or sign-ups.
The core metrics
| Metric | How to calculate | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Approved views | Views on clips that passed review | Real reach |
| Cost per 1,000 approved views | Total spend ÷ approved views × 1,000 | Efficiency |
| Engagement rate | (Likes + comments + shares) ÷ views | Whether people cared |
| Rejection rate | Rejected clips ÷ submitted clips | Brief quality and fraud level |
| Clips posted | Count of approved clips | Volume |
| Top moments | Moments behind the best clips | What to clip next |
Raw views vs approved views
Raw views include clips that broke the rules or showed signs of fake views. Paying or reporting on raw views flatters the campaign. In our network about 1 in 6 clips is rejected, so the gap can be large.
Follow-on signals
Clipping is mainly an awareness channel, so direct clicks are rare. Look for:
- profile visits and follows on your own accounts
- searches for your name, song or show
- streams, downloads or sign-ups in the days after big clips
- comments asking "where's this from?"
Weekly review questions
- Which three clips got the most approved views, and why?
- Which hooks and moments repeat in the winners?
- Which platforms delivered?
- What got rejected, and is the brief clear enough?
- What new source footage would help?
What not to measure
- Raw follower counts of clippers. Views on your clips matter, not their size.
- One viral clip. Look at the spread across many clips.
- Day-one numbers only. Clips keep getting views for days.
How SOVE7GN reports
Every week you get real (approved) views and the clips that worked best, so we can push more of what's landing. A person checks every clip within 24 hours before its views count.
Questions people ask
What's a good engagement rate for clips?
It varies by niche and platform. Compare clips within the same campaign rather than chasing a universal number.
How do I know views aren't fake?
Check view growth, engagement match, viewer location and platform flags. See how to spot fake views.
Can I track sales from clips?
Sometimes, with discount codes or links, but clipping is mainly an awareness channel.
How long until I can judge a campaign?
Give it at least two to four weeks of data.
