Hair transplant marketing: surgeon-led clips and an 18-month patient story, inside the ad rules
Updated 27 October 2026 · Written by Reyansh Juneja and Naman Dhiman, the co-founders of SOVE7GN, who run the campaigns and review the clips
We market hair transplant clinics with the surgeon on camera: consult explainers, candidacy and cost answers, and one consented patient filmed from consultation to final result, cut into 2 to 4 short clips a day and posted on your own accounts. Plans start at $2,000 a month, and a 3-month plan on Entry or above comes with 1,000,000 views guaranteed in writing.
Short answer: A hair transplant takes 10 to 18 months to show its full result, according to the NHS, so the strongest content is a patient story filmed across that time with signed consent, plus the surgeon answering candidacy, cost and recovery questions. In the UK, ads may not imply transplanted hair lasts permanently or carries minimal risk. Book a 30-minute call and send one recorded consult first.
Who is this for, and when is it the wrong fit?
Surgeon-led hair restoration clinics in the US, UK and Canada where the surgeon will talk on camera, with 5k to 300k Instagram followers and a procedure worth $2,000 or more. It is the wrong fit if no clinician will be filmed, if you only want paid ads managed, or if you want clips that promise a result. Plastic surgery practices should read plastic surgeon social media instead.
Why does the treatment timeline make the content?
Because a viewer cannot see the result on day one, and neither can the patient. The NHS page on hair transplants (checked October 2026) says the transplanted hair often falls out after a few weeks, new hair usually starts to appear after about 4 months, and the full results should be seen after 10 to 18 months. It also suggests 1 to 2 weeks off work.
That timeline is a story with a built-in reason to keep watching. With the patient's written consent, film these points:
| When | What to film | Who talks |
|---|---|---|
| Consultation | The surgeon assessing the donor area and explaining what is realistic | Surgeon |
| Procedure day | The setup and the surgeon explaining each stage, patient's face optional | Surgeon |
| First 2 weeks | Aftercare, what the patient is told about washing and sleeping | Nurse or surgeon |
| A few weeks in | The shedding: "why your new hair falls out, and why that is expected" | Surgeon, with the patient |
| About 4 months | First new growth | Patient, if willing |
| About 6 to 9 months | Progress check | Surgeon and patient |
| 10 to 18 months | Final result, same lighting and angle as the consultation photos | Surgeon and patient |
Each stage gives 2 to 5 clips. The shedding clip matters most: it answers a question many new patients worry about, and it is honest about the slow part.
What can the surgeon film without a patient?
Most of the month's clips. One hour of talk usually gives 12 to 20 clips, so a 60 to 90 minute session gives about 12 to 30.
- Who is and is not a candidate, and why some people are told to wait.
- How the donor area limits what is possible.
- What a realistic hairline looks like at different ages.
- How pricing works and what the quote includes.
- What to ask any clinic, at home or abroad, before booking.
- Recovery in plain terms, including time off work.
- What happens to the hair around the transplant over time.
Which ad rules apply to hair transplant clips?
General information, not legal advice. Checked October 2026.
| Rule | What it means for a clip | Source |
|---|---|---|
| UK: no implying permanence or minimal risk | Do not say transplanted hair "lasts forever" or that the procedure is risk-free | CAP cosmetic interventions guidance, para 21 |
| UK: under-18 audience | Hair restoration surgery is named as a cosmetic intervention, so ads may not run where 25% or more of the audience is under 18, social media included | Same guidance, para 4 |
| UK: before-and-after evidence | Hold proof the photos are genuine plus signed and dated proof from the patient | Same guidance, para 32 |
| UK: "surgeon" | Doctors with the FRCS or an overseas equivalent may be described as surgeons | Same guidance, para 6 |
| UK: registration | Doctors must be GMC registered; independent clinics providing cosmetic surgery in England must be CQC registered | NHS |
| UK: no guaranteed results | Ads must not imply guaranteed results | ASA hair loss advice |
| US: testimonials | A patient's result is read as typical; "results not typical" does not fix that | 16 CFR 255.2 |
| US and Canada: Meta ads | Ads for cosmetic procedures or surgeries must target people 18 or older | Meta ad standards |
Patients appear only with consent that names social media, and in the US with a HIPAA authorization if you are a covered entity. Our patient photo consent form checklist lists the clauses, and before and after rules covers lighting and retouching.
How does it work, step by step?
- A 30-minute call. Send one recorded consult or Q&A first.
- We agree a rules card: where you practice, who appears, which footage has consent, the words you never use, and who approves.
- We make 2 example clips. Nothing goes live until you approve both.
- Live within 48 hours, then 2 clips a day on Entry or 4 on Growth, on your accounts. The patient story runs alongside as each stage is filmed.
What does it cost?
| Plan | Price | Included |
|---|---|---|
| Entry | $2,000 a month | 2 clips a day on your accounts |
| Growth | $4,000 a month | 4 clips a day |
| Full service | $5,000 to $6,000 a month | Scripting, 2 calls a week, analytics, 3-month minimum |
The guarantee: 1,000,000 views over a 3-month plan (Entry or above); if we fall short, we keep posting at our own cost (Terms). It covers views, not consultations. Questions people ask
What does a hair transplant marketing agency do?
It produces and places the content that brings consultations. We do the video side: cutting the surgeon's consults and Q&As into daily clips and posting them on your accounts, inside the ad rules where you practice.
How long until hair transplant results show?
The NHS says new hair usually starts to appear after about 4 months and the full results should be seen after 10 to 18 months. That is why a patient story filmed across that time works so well.
Can hair transplant clinics post before and after photos?
Yes, with the patient's signed consent and genuine, unretouched photos taken the same way. In the UK you also need signed and dated proof from the patient, and in the US the result must be typical or the typical result stated.
Should hair transplant surgeons be on TikTok?
As a second channel, yes, if the clips are education and the audience rule is respected in the UK. Our med spa TikTok page covers TikTok's ad policy for clinics.
