Luxury car rental marketing: Instagram and video ideas, and the price rules that apply
Updated 5 November 2026 · Written by Reyansh Juneja and Naman Dhiman, the co-founders of SOVE7GN, who run the campaigns and review the clips
Luxury car rental marketing on Instagram works best with three kinds of video: the car itself (sound, interior, the walkaround), the experience (delivery to a hotel, the handover, the drive), and the owner explaining how renting works. The part that gets rental companies in trouble is price: a reel that shows "from $999 a day" while leaving out fees every renter must pay is the drip pricing that regulators in the US, UK and Canada now target.
Short answer: Film one day a month: each car walked around with the owner talking, a delivery or handover with written customer consent, and a short "how renting works" explainer. One hour of long video usually gives us 12 to 20 clips. When a clip shows a price, show the total including every mandatory fee. Disclose any free or discounted rental given to a creator, inside the video.
What should a luxury car rental company post on Instagram?
| Format | Example opening line | What it sells | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walkaround with the owner | "This is the one detail renters always ask about on the Huracan." | The car, and your knowledge of it | Only claims you can back up |
| Cold start and sound | The engine, then one line about the car | Attention in the first second | Film on private property, not a public street |
| Delivery to a hotel or airport | "Delivered to the lobby at 9 a.m." | Convenience, the service | Customer consent in writing; plates and faces as agreed |
| How renting works | "Deposit, mileage, insurance: here is what you actually pay." | Trust, fewer support calls | Totals must match your booking page |
| The price clip | "What a weekend in a Ferrari 488 costs, all in." | Qualified leads | Show the total with mandatory fees (below) |
| Founder story | Why you started, how you choose cars | You, which a fleet cannot copy | Keep it true and specific |
What does one filming day give you?
A worked clip map for a rental company with three cars, filmed in one morning with the owner talking. About one hour of usable footage. One hour of long video usually gives us 12 to 20 clips; this map uses 15.
| Footage | Clips | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Car 1 walkaround, 10 minutes | 3 | Exterior detail, interior, the one feature renters ask about |
| Car 2 walkaround, 10 minutes | 3 | Same structure, different car |
| Car 3 walkaround, 10 minutes | 3 | Same structure, different car |
| Cold starts, 5 minutes | 2 | Sound clip per car, with one spoken line |
| "How renting works" explainer, 15 minutes | 3 | Deposit and payment, mileage limits, insurance and damage |
| Founder take, 10 minutes | 1 | "The car I would rent for a first-timer, and why" |
At 2 clips a day, that is over a week of posting from one morning.
How should a rental reel show the price?
General information, not legal advice; checked 5 November 2026. Your state, provincial or national rules have the final say.
| Market | Rule | What it means for a clip | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| US, federal | FTC Act Section 5 | "Unfair or deceptive acts or practices in or affecting commerce" are unlawful. The FTC's junk fees rule covers only live-event tickets and short-term lodging, but the FTC said other industries are still "prohibited from deceiving consumers" about fees | 15 U.S.C. 45; FTC, 17 December 2024 |
| California | SB 478, Civil Code 1770(a)(29), since 1 July 2024 | Advertised prices must include all mandatory fees; government taxes and optional services may be left out. Some industries with their own pricing laws are exempt, so check which applies to rentals | California Attorney General |
| UK | DMCC Act price transparency (CMA209) | The total price, normally including mandatory charges, must be in the invitation to purchase, and the CMA lists a social media post as one form of invitation to purchase | CMA price transparency summary |
| Canada | Competition Act drip pricing | A price that is not attainable because of fixed mandatory fees raises concerns unless the extra charges are imposed by government, such as sales tax | Competition Bureau |
The practical version for a clip: if you say a number, say the number the renter will pay for that day, with any mandatory booking, cleaning or service fee included. Optional extras such as delivery or extra mileage can be mentioned separately. Our cautious reading: a refundable deposit is not part of the price, but say it exists, because renters hate finding it at checkout.
What rules apply to creator and customer posts?
Rental companies often lend cars to creators for content. The FTC says to disclose "when you have any financial, employment, personal, or family relationship with a brand", that free or discounted products count, that "the disclosure should be in the video and not just in the description", and not to assume "a platform's disclosure tool is good enough" (FTC Disclosures 101). So a creator driving your car for free should say so on screen, and if you repost their clip, the disclosure should stay. Our FTC disclosure for clips page covers the wording.
Paying customers filmed at handover are not paid endorsers unless you give them a perk for posting. Either way, get written permission to post their face, voice or name, at booking.
Which rental companies show what this looks like?
These four rental companies' own websites linked their social accounts on 5 November 2026. We studied them from the outside; none has any relationship with SOVE7GN.
| Company | What the site shows | What to copy |
|---|---|---|
| Royalty Exotic Cars, Las Vegas | A homepage video in which founder Houston Crosta tells the ten-year story of the business; links Instagram and his personal YouTube channel | The founder story as the trust clip |
| mph club, Miami | Links Instagram, TikTok and YouTube; multiple pickup locations plus delivery | One brand on all three platforms |
| Gotham Dream Cars, New York area | A "Dream Car Tour" that has customers drive several cars in one morning, and a membership plan | An experience product, which films itself |
| Prestige Luxury Rentals, Miami | Links Instagram and YouTube; day rates on the homepage | Prices on the page, which a clip can point to |
What does not work for rental accounts?
Renters speeding on public roads. It gets views, and it attracts the renter you least want, on top of the obvious legal risk. Film driving on private property or at legal speeds.
Fleet photos with no person. Every rental company in a city has the same Lamborghini; the owner on camera is what a competitor cannot copy.
How do SOVE7GN clips fit a rental company?
You film one morning a month, or send us footage you already have. We cut it into clips, send 2 examples for approval, go live within 48 hours, and post on your own accounts. Entry is $2,000 a month for 2 clips a day; Growth is $4,000 for 4. We do not set your prices; if a clip states a price, you confirm it is the all-in number before it posts. If you have one car and no footage, start by filming; clips cannot be cut from nothing. See how we work with founder-led businesses or book a 30-minute call. Questions people ask
How much does a luxury car rental cost per day?
It depends on the car. On 5 November 2026, Gotham Dream Cars' homepage showed day rates including $649 for a Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet and $2,495 for a Ferrari 296 GTS Spider, and Prestige Luxury Rentals' homepage in Miami showed "starting at" rates of $1,195 to $1,295 for a Lamborghini Huracan Evo Spyder, McLaren 720S Spider and Porsche 911 GT3. Fees, deposits and mileage terms vary.
How do I promote my luxury car rental business on Instagram?
Post daily clips of the cars with the owner talking, handovers filmed with customer consent, and explainers on price, deposit and mileage, all cut from one monthly filming session.
Do I have to include fees in my advertised rental price?
In many places, yes. The UK's price transparency rules expect mandatory charges in the total price, including in social media posts; Canada treats fixed mandatory fees left out of a price as drip pricing; and California's SB 478 bans advertised prices that leave out mandatory fees, with some industry exemptions. Check with a lawyer for your market.
