Yacht Instagram captions for charter companies and brokers, with the guest-count and disclosure rules
Updated 2 November 2026 · Written by Reyansh Juneja and Naman Dhiman, the co-founders of SOVE7GN, who run the campaigns and review the clips
The yacht Instagram captions that turn into inquiries name the boat, the place and one concrete detail a guest or buyer cares about, then give one next step: "Four days in the Exumas on a 70-foot motor yacht, crew of four, chef included. Dates open in March. DM for the itinerary." Generic lines like "living the dream" get likes and no bookings.
Short answer: Formula: the boat, the place, one specific detail (crew, cabins, itinerary, engine hours), one next step. Any guest count you state must match what the vessel may legally carry, and a US charter boat under 100 gross tons with crew is limited to 6 passengers unless it is an inspected vessel. Brokers caption under the name on their license. If you gave a guest or creator a free trip, the post needs a clear disclosure. General information, not legal advice. Checked 2 November 2026.
Which caption fits which yacht post?
| Post type | Example caption | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Charter week reel | Four days in the Exumas on a 70-foot motor yacht. Crew of four, chef included. Dates open in March. DM for the itinerary. | Place, boat, crew, availability, next step |
| Crew introduction | Meet [Name], our chef for [number] seasons. Ask her what she cooks on the first night. | Puts a face to the service guests pay for |
| Itinerary | Day 2: anchor off [place] by 10, swim and lunch on board, sunset run back to [harbor]. | Lets a guest picture the week without a sales line |
| Listing walk-through | 2018 [model], [number] engine hours, one owner, freshwater kept. Walk-through below. Full spec sheet by DM. | The specs a buyer checks first |
| Just sold | Sold: [model], [year]. Listed [number] days. Thank you to the buyer's broker, [Name]. | Proof of results, credit to the co-broker |
| Behind the scenes | Provisioning day: what goes on board before guests arrive. | Shows the work behind the price |
| Owner Q&A | "Should I charter my yacht out?" Here's what changes when you do. | Speaks to owners, the other half of a broker's business |
Every bracket is a placeholder for a true fact. The numbers in the examples (four days, 70 feet, crew of four) are illustrations, not real charters.
What are some funny yacht captions?
Humor works on yacht accounts when it is about the boat life everyone recognizes, not about the guests. A few that stay on the right side of the line:
- "The tender is the real main character."
- "Out of office. Literally out. Of the office."
- "Plans for today: none. Plans for tomorrow: also none."
- "Our chef has one rule: nobody touches the galley."
- "Fenders out, phones down."
Keep jokes away from named guests, their spending or what they look like. A guest who books for privacy does not want to be the punchline.
What can a caption say about guest numbers?
Only what the vessel is allowed to carry, and this is where charter captions most often overstate. US law defines an uninspected passenger vessel under 100 gross tons as one carrying not more than 6 passengers, including when it is "chartered with the crew provided or specified by the owner"; a vessel under 100 gross tons chartered with crew and carrying more than 6 passengers is a small passenger vessel, which needs Coast Guard inspection (46 U.S.C. 2101, paragraphs 49 and 55). A larger uninspected vessel of 100 gross tons or more is limited to 12.
Our cautious reading: never write "up to 12 guests" or "perfect for groups of 10" for a US charter unless the boat's certification covers that number, and do not show a crowded deck party on a 6-passenger charter boat as if it were a charter. Day guests, overnight guests and flag state change what applies, so check with the captain or your maritime lawyer before you post a number. Outside the US, the flag state and the charter area set the limits.
What do yacht brokers have to put in captions?
In Florida, the Yacht and Ship Brokers' Act covers brokers of yachts over 32 feet. Brokers and salespersons must be licensed, and a broker may not do business under a name other than the one on the license (Fla. Stat. Chapter 326). For captions that means the account name and the brokerage named in the post should match the license. A material misrepresentation in a yacht transaction is grounds for discipline under the same chapter, which is why engine hours, refit dates and "one owner" lines must be true. Our yacht broker marketing page covers listing clips in more detail.
When does a yacht caption need #ad?
When you gave something. If a creator, a guest or a travel writer posts about your yacht and you gave them a free or discounted charter, that is a material connection, which the FTC says "can include monetary payment or the provision of free or discounted products" and must be disclosed clearly (16 CFR 255.5). The FTC's own Endorsement Guides FAQ says someone given free travel and accommodation should disclose it. When you repost their content, keep their disclosure in your caption too. If a paying guest posts with nothing given, there is usually nothing to disclose. Our yacht charter marketing page covers guest content and rights.
Where do the clips under these captions come from?
From footage the crew and broker already shoot: walk-throughs, crew intros, the first day of a charter, sea trials. The caption only works if there is a steady flow of clips to put it under. One hour of long video usually gives us 12 to 20 clips. We cut them, write captions to the rules above, send 2 example clips for approval and go live within 48 hours. Entry is $2,000 a month for 2 clips a day. Our private jet Instagram captions page does the same for aviation. See how we work with founder-led businesses or book a 30-minute call.
Questions people ask
What is a good caption for a yacht picture?
Name the boat or the place, add one specific detail such as the crew, the cabins or the itinerary, and end with one next step. "Four days in the Exumas, crew of four, chef on board. March dates open." beats a generic line about luxury.
What are some funny yacht Instagram captions?
Lines about boat life work best: "The tender is the real main character", "Fenders out, phones down", "Plans for today: none." Keep the jokes off your guests, their spending and their looks.
What should a yacht charter post say about guests?
Only a guest number the vessel is certified to carry. In the US, a crewed charter boat under 100 gross tons carrying more than 6 passengers needs to be an inspected vessel, so check the certificate before writing "up to 12 guests".
Do I need to disclose a free charter given to an influencer?
Yes. The FTC treats a free or discounted product or trip as a material connection that must be disclosed clearly in the post, and you cannot make the gift conditional on a positive review.
