Clipping for comedians and stand-ups
Updated 10 October 2026 · Written by the SOVE7GN founders
For a comedian, a good clip is an ad for the live show. Most comics have hours of sets, crowd work and podcast episodes sitting unused, while their reels get a fraction of what their follower count suggests. That gap is what we fix.
What you get: our editors cut clips from your sets, specials and podcast and post them on your accounts every day. Entry is $2,000 a month for 2 clips a day, a weekly strategy call and an idea doc. Before a run of dates, add a clipper campaign so the clips reach people in those cities who don't follow you yet.
Why comedy needs its own approach
Most short-form advice says to open on the payoff. In comedy, the payoff is the punchline, so opening on it kills the joke. Comedy clips need:
- the setup trimmed to the fewest words that still work
- the pause before the punchline left alone
- the laugh kept in, because it proves the joke landed
- captions that don't give the punchline away early
We wrote the full method in how to clip comedy podcasts and stand-up.
What we clip
| Source | What it becomes |
|---|---|
| Specials and recorded sets | Self-contained bits with the laugh |
| Crowd work | Short exchanges that need no context |
| Podcast episodes | Stories, riffs and strong opinions |
| Tour footage | Backstage and on-the-road moments |
Clips that sell tickets
- Put the city and dates in the caption, not on top of the joke.
- Post more heavily in the weeks before a run of shows.
- Don't give away the closer of the set you're about to tour.

Rules that protect your material
Before anything goes live, we agree what's off-limits: bits you're still working on, guests who didn't agree, topics that read badly out of context. Any clip that breaks the rules is rejected.
Questions people ask
Will clips spoil my live show?
Not if you choose what to clip. Most comics clip finished bits, crowd work and podcast moments, and keep the newest material for the stage.
Can you clip my podcast as well as my sets?
Yes. Podcast episodes often give more clips than sets, because they're full of stories and riffs.
Do you post on my accounts?
On a retainer, yes, with access you give us and only in the style you've approved.
Can you target specific tour cities?
Clips can't be targeted like ads, but we put cities in captions and time posting around your dates. We also check where viewers are as part of review on CPM campaigns.
