Med spa reel ideas: how one recorded consult session becomes about 30 clips

The best med spa reel ideas come from one recorded session, not from a list of trends: film a mock consultation, then have your injector answer the questions your front desk hears every week, and you have enough for about 30 reels. Below is the clip map we use, with a hook line for each type, a 4-week calendar and the shots that should never be filmed.
Short answer: record about 2 hours of talk: a consult walk-through, candidate questions, myth checks, treatment Q&A, aftercare, pricing and booking worries. One hour of talk usually gives 12 to 20 clips, so 2 hours gives about 24 to 40, and 30 is a fair middle. Keep prescription product names out of UK and Canada clips, and film no patient without signed consent.
What should you record in one session?
Book a quiet room for half a day and film one person who is good on camera, usually the owner or lead injector. Use a model or a patient who has signed a social media authorization for the consult part. Shoot vertical, with a clip-on mic, and let the injector talk in full answers so each one can stand alone as a clip.
The order below works because each block feeds a different stage of a patient's decision: first "is this for me", then "is this safe", then "what does it cost and how do I book".
How does one session split into about 30 clips?
| Segment | Clips | Example hook line | Rule to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consult walk-through | 5 | "What actually happens in your first consultation here" | Promote the consult, not a product |
| Who is a good candidate | 4 | "When I tell someone to wait" | Say an assessment comes first |
| Myth checks | 6 | "Filler and wrinkle treatment are not the same thing. Here is the difference" | No product names in UK or Canada clips |
| Treatment Q&A | 6 | "How long does a lip filler appointment take?" | US claims stay inside the product's approved uses |
| Aftercare | 4 | "What to skip after your appointment, and why" | No "no downtime" or "painless" promises |
| Price explainers | 3 | "Why we quote after the consult, not on the phone" | Prices true and complete |
| Booking worries | 2 | "Nervous about needles? Here is the first appointment, start to finish" | Never call a treatment "risk free" |
Total: 30. The rule column comes from the sources on can you advertise Botox on Instagram: in the UK, prescription-only medicines cannot be advertised to the public (CAP 12.12) and the ASA tells clinics to promote the consultation instead; UK doctors must not call treatments risk free or guarantee results (GMC cosmetic guidance paras 49 and 51); Canada allows a prescription drug ad to state only its name, price and quantity (C.01.044); and in the US, Texas bans untruthful cost claims (22 TAC 164.3). Checked October 2026. General information, not legal advice.
Which hook lines work for each treatment?
A hook names the viewer's question in the first second. Write it in the patient's words, not the clinic's.
- Lip filler: "The one thing I ask before any lip appointment." "What a lip filler consult covers before anything is booked." Fillers are not prescription-only, so the ASA says UK clinics may advertise them as "injected fillers".
- Wrinkle treatment (UK and Canada wording): "What we look at in a consultation for lines and wrinkles." No brand name, no hashtag with the brand name.
- Wrinkle treatment (US wording): the product may be named, but keep to its labeled uses. Botox Cosmetic is labeled for four areas in adults (DailyMed); we do not build promotional clips around a use outside the label.
- Skin treatments: "Three questions to ask before a chemical peel." The UK counts peels, micro-needling and laser among cosmetic interventions that must not target under-18s (CAP guidance).
- Cosmetic dentistry: "Whitening, bonding or veneers: what each one actually fixes." UK dentists cannot call themselves specialists unless on a GDC specialist list.
Which platform should each clip go on?
Post every clip as a vertical video on Instagram Reels first if that is where your followers are. Cross-post the Q&A, myth and aftercare clips to YouTube Shorts and TikTok, because they answer questions and do not depend on a local offer. Keep the price and booking clips for your own Instagram and Facebook, where local followers book.
For UK clinics, check the audience age in your account insights before posting any treatment clip. Cosmetic intervention ads cannot run in media where 25% or more of the audience is under 18 (CAP guidance), and that includes your own social accounts.
What does a 4-week calendar look like?
| Week | Clips | Theme |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 7 | Consult walk-through (5), candidates (2) |
| 2 | 7 | Myth checks (6), booking worry (1) |
| 3 | 8 | Treatment Q&A (6), price explainers (2) |
| 4 | 8 | Aftercare (4), candidates (2), price (1), booking worry (1) |
That is one clip a day for four weeks. On our Entry plan (2 clips a day, about 60 a month) one session covers about two weeks, so record a second session or add treatment-room footage. Our med spa video marketing page shows the monthly maths, and how many clips one video gives explains the 12 to 20 an hour.
What should you never film?
- Any patient who has not signed an authorization that covers social media, including people in the waiting room or reflected in a mirror. HHS says masking a face afterwards does not replace a missing authorization (HHS film and media FAQ). Use our patient photo consent form checklist.
- Screens, charts, the appointment book or a patient's name on a label.
- Product boxes and vial labels in UK and Canada clips. The ASA counts hashtags, and a visible box is the same problem.
- Botox before-and-afters for the UK. The CAP guidance says they are unlikely to be acceptable.
- Retouched results. The CAP guidance bars retouching the treated area beyond what the treatment achieves. Our med spa before and after rules cover the US and UK limits, and surgeons can use the plastic surgery content ideas clip map.
- Countdown offers such as "ends Friday". The ASA calls that pressure irresponsible for cosmetic offers (ASA).
If you would rather hand the cutting and posting to someone else, book a 30-minute call and send the session first. We make 2 example clips for you to approve and go live within 48 hours. The same approach works across every niche on our founders hub.
Questions people ask
What should a med spa post on Instagram?
Short vertical clips of your injector or doctor answering real patient questions: what happens at a consult, who is a good candidate, myths, aftercare and how pricing works. The patient sees who will treat them, which a graphic cannot show.
Can you say Botox on Instagram?
In the UK, no: the ASA says any reference to it on a clinic's social media, hashtags included, is likely an ad for a prescription-only medicine. In Canada a clinic may state only the name, price and quantity. In the US you may name it, with claims kept inside its labeled uses.
Should a med spa be on TikTok?
Yes for education clips such as myths and aftercare, as long as you check who is watching. UK clinics must keep cosmetic ads away from audiences where 25% or more are under 18. Our med spa TikTok page covers who uses TikTok by age and what TikTok's ad policy allows for clinics.
What are good med spa marketing ideas that cost little?
Record one 2-hour session of your best clinician answering questions, then cut it into about 30 clips. It costs a morning of clinic time and gives you a month of daily posts at one a day.
