Realtor YouTube banner: the size, the safe area, what text to put on it, and the brokerage disclosure

Updated 3 November 2026 · Written by Reyansh Juneja and Naman Dhiman, the co-founders of SOVE7GN, who run the campaigns and review the clips

A realtor YouTube banner should be 2560 x 1440 pixels, under 6 MB, with all text and logos inside the center safe area, and it should say three things: your name, the market you cover, and when new videos come out. It is also an advertisement for your services, so your brokerage name belongs on it, and in some states your license number does too.

Short answer: Upload a 2560 x 1440 px image (minimum 2048 x 1152, 16:9, 6 MB or smaller, per YouTube Help). Keep everything that matters inside the center strip: 1235 x 338 px at the minimum size, about 1,544 x 423 px at 2560 x 1440. Put on it your name, "[City] real estate", one line on what the channel posts and how often, and your brokerage name. Leave out prices, payment numbers and anything about who a home suits. General information, not legal advice. Checked 3 November 2026.

What size is a YouTube banner?

These are YouTube's own numbers from its channel branding help page, checked 3 November 2026.

SpecYouTube's number
Recommended size (especially for TV)2560 x 1440 px
Minimum upload size2048 x 1152 px, 16:9
Safe area for text and logos (at the minimum size)1235 x 338 px
File size6 MB or smaller
Profile pictureRenders at 98 x 98 px, up to 15 MB, no animated GIFs
Video watermarkAt least 150 x 150 px, square, under 1 MB

The safe area at the recommended size is our arithmetic, not a YouTube figure: 2560 / 2048 = 1.25, and 1235 x 1.25 by 338 x 1.25 is about 1,544 x 423 px, centered. YouTube only promises that text and logos inside that strip are safe, so treat everything outside it as background that may be cropped: a skyline, a coastline, a street in your market.

What should a realtor put on a YouTube banner?

Four lines at most, inside the safe area:

  1. Your name, the largest text on the banner, matching the name in your realtor bio on other sites.
  2. Your market: "Scottsdale luxury homes", "Toronto condos", "Lake Tahoe real estate". This is what a viewer uses to decide if the channel is for them.
  3. What and when: "New market update every Tuesday" or "Home tours every week". A promise of a schedule gives people a reason to subscribe.
  4. Your brokerage name, readable, not hidden in a corner (see the rules below).

Optional: a small headshot inside the safe area if your profile picture is a logo. Avoid phone numbers and URLs on the banner itself: YouTube's basic info settings let you add links and contact details to the channel, which is where viewers look for them.

Banner textProblemBetter
"Your dream home awaits"Says nothing about the market or the channel"Austin waterfront homes, new tour every Friday"
"Homes from $899K, $0 down options"A price and payment terms in a static ad; payment language can trigger lending disclosuresKeep numbers inside videos, with full disclosures
"Perfect neighborhoods for young families"Familial status under the fair housing advertising rule"Family-size homes near [School District]" describes the homes
"#1 agent in Dallas"A claim you must be able to proveA specific, true fact, or nothing

The fair housing rule covers "words, phrases, photographs, illustrations, symbols" that suggest a home is or is not available to a group (24 CFR 100.75). That includes the photo on your banner: show homes and places, not a stock family chosen to suggest who belongs.

Does a realtor YouTube banner need the brokerage name?

Our cautious reading is yes. The banner promotes your services, so it is advertising under the rules most agents already follow:

Other states differ. Our realtor social media rules page covers more of them. If you are on a team, check your brokerage's own branding policy too; many require their logo in a set position.

How should the banner work with the rest of the channel?

The banner makes a promise; the videos keep it. If it says "market update every Tuesday", post one every Tuesday, and cut each update into Shorts so the channel gets daily activity between long videos. Each video's thumbnail makes a smaller version of the same promise; our real estate YouTube thumbnail guide has YouTube's current sizes and the claims to keep off it. Our real estate YouTube channel page covers the formats and how to film an episode so it cuts into Shorts, and best real estate YouTube channels shows how established agent channels present themselves.

One hour of long video usually gives us 12 to 20 clips. We send 2 example clips for approval, go live within 48 hours, and post Shorts on your own channel. Entry is $2,000 a month for 2 clips a day. See how we work with founder-led businesses or book a 30-minute call.

Questions people ask

What should I put on my YouTube banner as a realtor?

Your name, your market, what the channel posts and how often, and your brokerage name. Keep all of it inside the center safe area YouTube gives for text and logos.

What size is a YouTube banner for all devices?

YouTube recommends 2560 x 1440 px, with a minimum of 2048 x 1152 px and a file of 6 MB or smaller. The area YouTube calls safe for text and logos is 1235 x 338 px at the minimum size, about 1,544 x 423 px at the recommended size.

What makes a good YouTube banner?

One clear message a viewer reads in a second: who you are, what the channel covers and when new videos come out. Background images should support the message, not compete with it.

How long is a YouTube banner?

A YouTube banner is a 16:9 image, recommended at 2560 pixels wide by 1440 pixels tall. Keep text and logos in the center safe area, because the edges may be cropped.
